Coronavirus Trigger Words and Euphemisms

Are you plagued by the evolving crisis?

The mainstream media is drilling panic words into our heads about the situation around the virus. These are words designed to have you subconsciously primed for the idea of death and disease.

For example, the metaphorical rather than the literal sense of the word plague, and the widespread use of the word evolving to describe the situation: the fear about the virus instead of the actual virus.

Yet at other times we use euphemisms like social isolation for "quarantine" and social distancing for removing the freedom of peaceful assembly.

I was triggered just by the title and thumbnail! Didn't even need to read very much of the actual article.... and suddenly my shoulders tensed and butt clenched! Now I need a joint really bad.

I'm not saying whether or not to panic or how to take precautions. I'm just noticing some linguistic peculiarities, like the explicit vs subconscious messages by the media.
