On the last day of August, Boeing added two more awards to its month-long total, which now stands at 23 and is valued at $2,072,411,850.
The big winner for August, though, is Lockheed Martin with a total of 28 defense contracts and modifications, averaging almost one contract per day. Today alone, Lockheed Martin scored five awards worth $156 million. But the total of Lockheed Martin's 28 contracts in August comes to $5,421,878,883.
That's $5.4 billion in the month of August, alone. Let that sink in: over just the last 31 days, Lockheed Martin has averaged a federal government award of $175 million per day.
And on August 14, the most expensive day of the month for defense contracts, about 10 percent of the government's expenditure went to Lockheed Martin: $2.9 billion of the $31.4 billion spent.
Note that the total spent on defense contracts in the month of August 2018 was $58,118,301,302.

This is what is in the public eye. Given the history of US government, you can rule out other very secretive weapon expenditures.
