Bowling Green Kentucky is home to the Chevrolet Corvette. The Corvette is an iconic American sports car that brings amazing performance comparable to exotic cars at a fraction of the cost.
The bowling green Kentucky plant currently offers plant tours where you can see first hand how the Corvette is assembled from start to finish, the tour averages 1 hour and its about a mile walk. The plant tours will be closed after June 16 , 2017 and will not bee giving any more tours for about 18 months, so for those wanting to see how the Corvette is made, there are only a few days left to book a tour.
Production for the 2018 Corvette is supposed to start in June 5, 2017 and continue til the end of July, after that, the plant will shutdown for 3 months due to a $439 million dollar investment to the plant. The plant is being shutdown to perform facility upgrades as well as a new paint shop. After the plant opens back up production of the 2018 Corvettes will resume.
For those who need more performance than a 650 hp Z06, then the Corvette Zr1 is what you need, coming out for 2018. A mid-engine Corvette has been rumored for years, but it may be finally introduced next year. Perhaps the reason for suspending the plant tours is to keep those secrets from getting out.
