The local
A handful of crowded square meters - but not too much - of bottles, of which a remarkable selection available at the bar. Light colors, almost dazzling, and some gilding, the counter at the entrance, the mirrors and the stools. There is everything.
The kitchen
Wine is the protagonist: therefore a small kitchen of cold and warm dishes accompanies wine making choices. From the very classic - anchovies, platters - to some cooked dishes, like the rack of lamb.
You can taste the foie gras entier, which is not cooked, but it is served with the quince compote and a well-toasted pan brioche: for once served at the proper temperature. The joke is of Piedmontese cured, a dairy veal with rosy and sweet meats: the idea of serving it only with Maldon oil and salt, which enhances its velvety nuance, is wise and appreciable. Mustard, capers and anchovies for free service, and some fragments of pequillo peppers.
The philosopher could comment on the profusion of "beds" of lettuce on which the dishes were served, these very dated. But it is a minor thing.
The cellar
There are dozens of bottles at the tap, with a brilliant and varied choice without being extreme: but next to a large garrison of beautiful bottles of the Bel Paese some champagne far from trivial - tasted Laherte Ultradition at 10 € - and things from 'abroad. For one, the "little" of Chateau Musar, from the Lebanese Bekaa.
Service
We are in a wine bar, so you do not expect white gloves: but you will have something that is perhaps even more valuable. Sincere interest, quick answers, friendliness and - when needed - deepening.
The bill
The dishes taken individually are not given away: 14/17 euros each. But they come with crispy taralli and peppers, and considering that the average customer adds a dish and a glass, understandably.
