Many of my friends have latched on to the concept of "herd immunity" which was the pre-medical method for dealing with novel diseases. The sad fact is that our diet, with all the foodstuffs on market shelves lacking over 75% of the original nutritional value, has left us immuno-compromised. So has our indoor environment and lifestyles.
Further, the second novel coronavirus truly is novel, with more mutations from any other known virus than prior human pathogens. It attacks us in so many ways not seen before: zombie cells which tunnel into their neighbors, cytokine and bradykine storms, dozens of species jumps, attacking the immune system like HIV, provoking mortal auto-immune responses against nearly all organs, long term effects, symptomless spreading, etc.
We need to install electro-static air cleaners with ozone generation in all indoor spaces, develop better teleconference hardware and software, and hopefully tele-touch and tele-smell because it does not look like the old normal will ever come back unless we can get safe enough and efficacious enough vaccines into everyone's arms, which will take some tweaking and twisting.
