The sheer lack of empathy is astonishing.

Obviously, when you're talking to a room of people in the same industry, there's going to be a slanted perspective on some things. That said, we got to talking about the pandemic and the lockdowns at work. We are all people who suffered during that time. We all have jobs that can't be done at home, on your computer, while wearing a dress shirt and no pants. We have to be on location.

So, I put the question to the room, "Did anybody else observe that everyone who was passionately supporting the lockdowns, shaming people for going out or opposing the lockdowns, and repeating the 'stay at home, it'll save lives' rhetoric are people who have jobs that can be done remotely, and have significant others?"

Surely enough, upon reflection, that was the case for everybody in the room. Everybody saw it. The only people who passionately supported these draconian measures were the people who either suffered no cost or benefited.

This is backed up further by the swaths of people who are bitching about having to go back to the office and insisting that they were doing perfectly fine working at home. Seriously? You think that I can make a living building a truss tower in my garage for no reason? No, I have to be there. I have to be in the place. I have to do the physical work. You're complaining about having to drive to an office to sit on your ass because you prefer to sit on your ass at home? Fuck you, you entitled piece of shit.

The sick irony is that almost all of these people pride themselves as being political advocates for the proletariat. They fancy themselves the friend of the people who dig the ditches and lay the bricks. Apparently they forgot that you can't do that while sitting comfortably in your house in your underwear.
