It was a fun 20 months without it. We haven't seen Flu positivity this high since March 2020.

In the US it is mostly Influenza A H3N2 right now. Though B Victoria and the 2009 H1N1 Swine Flu are circulating as well globally. Global circulation is about ~50% Influenza A H3N2, ~10% 2009 H1N1 Swine Flu, and ~40% B Victoria. B Yamagata is still virtually gone since the beginning of the pandemic.

H3N2 tends to have more hospitalizations, and the vaccine tends to be a poor match for H3N2 as it tends to mutate too quickly. We just aren't having good luck lately.

Still get your Flu vaccine. Even a "miss" tends to be helpful. The Flu vaccine kicks in after ~2 weeks from the dose. Flu season is literally just starting in the US, so it isn't too late.

Flu and coronavirus co-infections are rare, but can happen and tend to be severe together. Not to mention with Omicron likely to peak in January you don't want to have to need a hospital.
