HV.1 is now the most prevalent variant in the US, closely followed by EG.5. Both are very similar to what the new coronavirus vaccine targets, so make sure you schedule an appointment for it. Everyone is eligible for it regardless of how many vaccines and boosters they've received.
HV.1 has only two mutations different in its spike receptor binding domain compared to what is in the new vaccine. EG.5 only has one mutation different.
BA.2.86 is still below 1% prevalence in the US. As is its descendant JN.1.
There is also a new variant JN.1 that is a descendant of BA.2.86. But it is quite rare in the US at the moment.
