Nice study on immunocompromised people and the coronavirus vaccine immune response.
Pretty good results for HIV+ people. 95% were seropositive after vaccination. Though important to note here all HIV+ in the sample had undetectable HIV viral loads and CD4 counts above 200. So this unfortunately doesn't tell us about HIV+ persons with AIDS and those not on ART.
Like previous studies, the worst responders to the coronavirus vaccines are organ transplant recipients. But even within that group there are people that do respond.
The study tested both antibody levels and neutralizing titers as well, and there was quite a varied response in each immunocompromised group. Solid organ transplant recipients that were seropositive tended to have lower antibodies than the seropositive healthy controls. So immunocompromised people may benefit from getting their antibody levels checked after vaccination.
In other studies, organ transplant recipients that received Moderna typically responded at higher rates than Pfizer, but this study found no difference in response rate between the vaccines tested.
Some recent studies have shown third booster doses have helped some non-responders get an immune response.
