Novavax fans will get mad at me if I don't mention it. The updated Novavax vaccine hasn't received FDA approval yet, but we won't have to wait for ACIP to meet again. Today's ACIP vote also covers Novavax's updated XBB.1.5 vaccine.
They presented vaccine data at the meeting today. I'll link to it in the comments. It shows cross-neutralization against circulating XBB variants, including EG.5.1.
We technically have three coronavirus vaccines available in the US now. Pfizer, Moderna, and Novavax. J&J is no longer available in the US.
Novavax's vaccine is just as good as the others. We just have less data on it. It is a recombinant protein vaccine with an adjuvant, which historically is an effective vaccine type that is well-tolerated. The excellent Hepatitis B and HPV vaccines are both recombinant protein vaccines.
