With all of the wonderful advances in modern science, meteorologists can still barely—and I mean barely—predict what the weather is going to be like 3 days from now.
And so if your local TV weather guy doesn’t know if it’s going to rain 3 days from now, why are you trusting a career politician’s random ass guess when it comes to COVID mandates? Because that’s what it is. No amount of charts or graphs or statistical chicanery changes the fundamental fact that we’re guessing.
If we’re going to guess, let’s trust people with skin in the game, who know how to balance the pros and cons of something so nuanced.
Small business owners should be able to decide if they feel it’s safe to re-open. This system has inherent checks and balances, because customers can simultaneously decide if THEY think it’s safe to go out. Only through this iterative process can we figure out the right balance. This is how free societies and free markets handle the unknown.
You can’t micromanage society from the top down.
