I really suggest just reading the entire "proximal origin" letter itself to begin with to understand how Silver et al just are at best being selective readers and at worst intentionally misleading.
It isn't a very long letter, but for the most part it lays out the general picture of potential coronavirus origins.
Unfortunately we really haven't moved much since then, aside from some more circumstantial evidence regarding the wildlife market.
