Some COVID data from around the globe today.

US had a bit less than 2000 new cases through early this morning and crossed the 100 death threshold last night. Now reporting a few more recoveries and still no 'new' serious/critical cases. I still don't get that last number. It has to be wrong.

Moving on, neither France nor Italy has reported any new data since yesterday. That seems to be systemic. They may just do a data dump late in the day. So I should have data for them later. Yesterday was just gruesome for Italy, and very bad for France.

Iran is still being hit hard and I doubt the quality of the data. They rushed past the 1000 death mark (1135) and recorded another 1192 cases. Also there is sound evidence that their citizens are infecting others in nearby countries. An Indian Army Captain evidently has contacted the virus fro his father who had been to Qom and is infected. I think it is probably worse in Iran than they're admitting.

Germany's cases are up by 700 detected but their at 26 are still very low. A good sign perhaps.

Spain is still getting hit hard. Their profile is more similar to Italy than not, except for Chines textile workers. Almost 2000 new cases and deaths over 600. Not good.

Across Europe the case in the less populated countries are very similar to Germany rather than Italy or Spain.

So far we are not seeing the massive spread that was feared, at least not in most countries. There is still the question of how many tests are being done and how many mild cases there are.

There is some little evidence that the virus was in the US last flue season and was responsible for some of the bump in deaths last year. If true, that would e massive good news, since it would mean there is a certain amount of immunity in the population already and that we will have many more mild cases now than expected.

Right now in the US we seem closer to the less problematic predictions than to the scary ones.
