This sad story began from me, accidentally dropping my PS3 in living room. Guess what? It was broken. Back in those day I barely have computer knowladge in my brains, so I gave it to someone else. One year later my laptop is broken (seriously though, every god damn thing in my house is broken…) but this time I fixed it by myself successfully. The following day, I tried to figured it out how about I build my own PC?! But I did not have any clue where should I start so that idea is aborted.
In early 2017, I started making YouTube video about music, which means you need to edit video but it took 3 hours just to render 3 minutes video! Furthermore, Ryzen was launched. This made me want to build my new computer even more and seem like everyone interested it. Thanks YouTube for guided me about PC building. Though, Everything went well, until the Ram price go skyrocketing. If you can remember when 16GB DDR4 was just $120, now It is $200. It is more expensive than some motherboard! All I can do is wait until Ram price go down. Unfortunately, It is still going higher and higher until these days.
In September, I decided to buy R7 1700. But the god punished me again with GPU price. RX480 was out of stock every websites. GTX 1060 price was going insanely high. Yes, I am talking about miners. Cryptocurrency bacame a thing and I can not build my new PC because of this. So!! I must to wait again…
2 monthes later, Coffee Lake was launched, representing higher clock speed compare with R6 1600X. But new chipset motherboard…
Until now Ryzen+ is going to launch. 1 Year of waiting and I still can not officially build my PC. My laptop is dying again after update to Windows 10. Luckily, Flaw Security (Meltdown and Spectre) affected my PC a little bit. By the way, this is 4th time I restall Windows 10 ;(
If you have old laptop, try not to upgrade to Windows 10 especially Integrated Graphics below HD 4000, which that Windows 10 is not supported. You may encounter with black screen and sometime BSoD but if you are lucky your screen may flickering.
Hopefully Ram and Graphic cards price will go down this year. I do not blame miners. It is economic system. All I can do right now is wait and wait. Anyway, I will discuss about Video Rendering in next post which CPU is the best for real world video editing software. If you think Ryzen is video editing beast, think again.
Haha, yeah that exactly my situation. Initially I wanted to buy a new PC when ryzen launched but I waited to long and those GPU prices are so insane that I just decided to wait. Especially now that ryzen+ is already around the corner and would make my new processor a thing from the past. I hope the price of Intel's 8700k goes down a bit till I finally buy me a new one, lets wait and see.
