Valencia 0-2 Juventus: Cristiano Ronaldo sees red in first Champions League game for Serie A giants... but Miralem Pjanic rescues him with two penalties.
Miralem Pjanic rescued Cristiano Ronaldo by scoring two penalties in Juventus' 2-0 victory over Valencia in the Champions League.
The Mestalla was stunned on Wednesday when Ronaldo, making his Champions League bow for Juventus, was shown a straight red following an off-the-ball clash with Jeison Murillo in the 29th minute.
Ronaldo now faces an expected two-match ban for violent conduct, which would rule him out of the home game against Young Boys and the trip to Old Trafford against his former club Manchester United on October 23.
But despite going down to 10 men, Juventus went ahead on the stroke of half-time thanks to a calmly taken penalty from Pjanic. And the playmaker doubled the visitors' lead in the 51st minute again from 12 yards out.
