Paint Effects | Aged Stone

in crafts •  7 years ago

Using the dry brush technique to create aged stone paint effects. In this video, an undercoat of very light grey acrylic paint has been applied to a concrete casted planter. The undercoat is left to dry for a 24 hour period for the acrylic paint to fully dry or cure, ready for applying the dry brushed layers of a very dark grey (almost black) acrylic paint. This is a relatively simple and effective technique and can be quickly applied, yielding authentic aged stone paint effects, perhaps similar to that of very old stone artefacts which can be found in churches, museums and such.

Paints are acrylic and the colours used are black and white, which are mixed together at varying quantities to produce the grey tones.
