Cathy's Flower House - Glass - 23 December 2024

We met again today to try and advance our Cathy’s Flower House project. My friend got her favourite hot chocolate drink and added two big marshmallows to help herself along. As she’s the project manager she got all the pieces for me to put together. After a bit of positioning and glueing a simple door to a back wall came an important part to do : the actual greenhouse glass structure. It’s only plastic again and the same thickness as I used on the door here.

The glass comes with all the black leading style lines ready set up so all you need to do is try and fold and then slot some tabs into slits along the edges. This is easier said than done as the slits are virtually invisible and the tabs won’t go in that easily because they seem to be designed so that once they half get in they’re sort of locked in:

Sometimes they slot in but then come out again easily as shown in the photo.

Also I did find that some of the tabs were sort of peeling off as the photo above shows. I was half considering whether or not I should just peel off the whole thing, but then decided to just leave all that as found.

Nowhere did it say to stick masking tape on each tab as you went on to stop them from popping out again, but that’s exactly what I did and it worked : it does look a bit bad at the moment but at some point soon I’ll take the masking tape off and add the ‘window edge leading’ which comes with the kit. It’s not proper leading but it seals the sections and makes them stronger.

You can see more or less one door at the back through the glass as the greenhouse is beginning to take shape.

I did find some help on You Tube to check whether or not I was doing the right thing.

All in all it was a bit stressful, but at least we didn't need that many tools we didn't have. Our project manager had to take a rest afterwards and the site manager disappeared so I had to tidy up the bits and pieces until after lunch.

We'll continue this slow crafting project shortly.

Thank you very much for the support @steemcurator08 / @sduttaskitchen !

@flowertron, my dear friend, you are so talented; I have seen your crochet works and visited your YouTube channel when you shared how to make a sunflower!

Now you share a lovely-looking glass house! 😀🏠 I mean, how can the almighty be so partial? On the one hand, you have so many talents, on the other hand, I don't have any like you! I have a bit of knowledge of knitting, but in the case of crochet, I don't have much knowledge!

Keep sharing such innovative content! Be blessed, merry Christmas and a Happy New year in advance 💐

Thank you @sduttaskitchen !

I learn a lot from You Tube and subscribe to a lot of craft related channels to learn new techniques and projects which is why I often link to the best videos I've found in my posts making sure they're relevant and informative.

Fortunately if you are interested, you can learn and improve how to crochet here on Steemit ! I recommend both @analp and @naka05 who together run the crochet lessons. Here's their most recent offering :

https://steemit.com/hive-181136/@analp/slc-crochet-s22w2-emprende-con-crochet-or-elabora-un-bolso-llavero

They started their lessons from scratch so you can go back and do the exercises given.

There's lots of opportunity to learn and to share what you've learnt here on Steemit !

🍀♥️
