Yarn Event Hopes - 15 September 2024

Normally when I go shopping to the supermarket I don’t tend to get the promotional material they have on the way out. I’m either too tired of walking about choosing things or I just don’t see them. Yesterday I went to an Aldi supermarket and as I was leaving I picked up a sort of thin promotional magazine they had on the way out.

After putting the shopping away at home and sitting down for a bit I started sifting through anything of interest in the offers and there it was :

The above is a photo of the page from the promotional magazine. My face illuminated in excitement and currently can’t wait for my next shopping day there.

You might remember I wrote about finding unexpected goodies in the Lidl supermarket here. The resources I found that time were to do with sewing so now with the change of seasons I was expecting to find the yarn being available at some point but was surprised it was at Lidl’s main competitor, Aldi.

I’m not the only person looking for this type of yarn event offers. In fact, if you search You Tube for ‘Aldi Yarn or Aldi Yarn event 2024’ you will get 2 to 3 year old videos like this one:

In most of the videos I watched sadly they just include music but no real evaluation of the quality of the yarn. Only one You Tuber I found explained how fast the best yarn went and also how some of the yarn was rather rough :

If I manage to get to the supermarket and there’s any yarn left next weekend, I’m planning to be very choosy and look precisely at the possible uses of the yarn before I commit to buying it. I’ll come to tell you how I got on.
