The US authorities confirmed on Thursday that there were no survivors of the plane crash that occurred on Wednesday night (21:00 local time) in Washington D.C.
When a plane with 64 people on board and a military helicopter with three people on board collided as the first plane was about to land at Ronald Reagan Airport. More than 300 rescuers have been working since Wednesday night in the icy waters of the Potomac River, which borders the airport and where the two planes crashed.
Why did they collide if the aircraft were visible on radar?!
Audio of the conversation, obtained by the BBC, appears to confirm that the helicopter was in contact with the airport control tower.
The controller asked the helicopter if it had the airliner "in sight" and asked it to "PASS IT FROM BEHIND". In the audio below, the controllers appear to realize that a collision has occurred and can be heard directing other aircraft then in the air to neighboring airports.
