The theme today was Black lives matter and oh boy this hits home all too well. I try my best to believe in a just world where everyone is equal but as a matter of fact equality does not truly exist and chasing equality is a pipe dream ("An unattainable or fanciful hope or scheme.") or that's what I've been led to believe. How can we be equals if people are looked down at just because they differ in sex, race or religion.
I've been seeing, hearing and reading a lot of different things. I see the inequality through the eyes of other people (the information online is how they interpret everything happen thus not my own opinion). I haven't truly felt it firsthand but that because I tend to steer clear of everything and just by writing that it feels as though there is something for me to steer clear of.
I sometimes get frustrated when I see it all happening. For example the various protests that are happening now.
I see the peaceful protests, I see the looting and I have this feeling that I need to be angrier then I am at this moment, but I am a peaceful person and never try to speak when I am emotional.
I try to assess the situations and think about how both parties feel and then form my opinion about what's happening.
I get where the anger is coming from I get that at this point in time this is the only way to fight for what they believe is right. I also believe that I shouldn't have to beg to be treated like a person what makes me different from everyone else? Do I not deserve the same chances, because of my skin color?
The oath that is taken by the people who are supposed to be unbiased.
"On my honor, I will never betray my badge, my integrity, my character or the public trust. I will always have the courage to hold myself and others accountable for our actions. I will always uphold the Constitution, my community, and the agency I serve."
The people who are supposed to make you feel safe. These are not the people we're supposed to be scared of when we go for a drive, a jog or a walk.
Red, white and blue should make you feel safe not anxious or scared. Innocent until proven guilty and not guilty until proven innocent.
I just want us all to be able to follow our dreams.
I just want us all to be able to love who we want.
I just want us all to be able to hangout with whomever we want.
I just want all of that without people looking at us weird or acting different.
