Project model railway #23 - Luggage Factory and Garage

in creative •  6 years ago

The next big(ger) part is completed!
At the back of Klein Waldberg some industry is going on. To be specific: A luggage factory (Kofferfabrik in german) and a little gas station with a garage Fritz Flink & Söhne (Fritz Flink & Sons)

This is a stationary part and not a replaceable diorama, but because of the complexity I've decided to make a step-by-step post about it. Hope you enjoy :)

Getting Started
The shape is given due to the fact that this part can be lifted for granting access to the mid part of the railroad layout

First, I am getting a rough layout of the buildings and the road. And try out if the installed lightning works properly.
(The light in the garage is a flashing one simulating electro-welding.
And dont forget do drill holes for the wires ;)

Starting The Green
Once the layout was clear I started to give the ground its colors in terms of grass and different layers of earth.

Time For Details
As usual I try to give my creation some life by adding figures that tell their own little story.

This car is getting nowhere

Some are more busy than others.

Seems like the sons are already done with their work...

There is always a solution if a car wont work, not sure for this one though.

Current Layout
Last but not least I want to give you a quick peak on the complete layout at its current state.
As you can see, the corner in the background is not finished yet. There are also many little details I want to share with you in a future blog post.

What's next?
It's time to get the green on the rest of the construction. Some spots are still uncovered and many areas need more love to detail.

If you want to see the project grow and the final result, don't forget to follow!
