Yeah, I never did quite understand why people are so critical in an online space. You will hear hundreds of recitals with the same pieces being played over and over again and in a live setting, people usually compliment the work or think "I enjoyed that because I enjoy that piece". All of the interpretations differ, even if only slightly. Yet the second that it is on YouTube, it seems that people ascend from the sewers to comment on how bad every single performance except for the one that they love is. I'll admit that I don't love some performances and I will just skip them and go on to another one or study them. As a composer, it is interesting to hear some of the nuances in how performers play something and realize that there isn't really a way to get anyone to play exactly what you want them to. All of the detailed annotations in a score will always lead to some different interpretation from each and every performer, and that's what makes music so beautiful.
