For #monochromemonday as started by @old-guy-photos I thought I would post this black and white picture of the abandoned state mental hospital canning facility:
Looking closely one can almost imagine a faint ghostly outline
Well I have to admit taking some serious artistic license on this one in my attempt to capture a ghost on film. As I was making coffee this morning I was watching the light patterns on the wall and thought that maybe it would be fun to try to modify an image to make it look like a ghost was in it.
Plus, I have been watching “Typewriter” on Netfix so that might have started my fascination with adding a ghost to an image.
It is actually a lot harder to get a good image than I thought it would be, I am always learning and trying new things.
I thought the old building would make a nice background and got almost done but there was some graffiti that was looking objectionable and not that artistic. A little work with the clone stamp tool got rid of that.
I first I was thinking that maybe that was a good background for a ghost but I just didn’t like it that much. Perhaps the ghost was just caught between the worlds because they were slightly misguided and this was the last place they remember having fun canning strawberries and eating them during their break.
Anyhow the graffiti was pretty easy to paint over. I wish it was as easy to erase some of the darker aspects of history but then, we would not be who we are – would we?
Here’s another view in Technicolor:
The ghost stands out a bit better in this one.
Here’s the original ghost face that inspired it:
Thanks for reading! I always value your support and comments. The pictures were taken by me with my Galaxy S9+ and modified in software. Text and graphics copyright lightsplasher & litesplasher.
I loved Typewriter! It is amazing how ordinary things can provide us with inspiration.

Me too! I hope they come out with some more episodes. There are a lot of things that spark inspiration that's for sure.

That really was a creative idea. I think you did great with it! I get a kick out of the whole digital manipulation. I have been really ramping it up on sepia Saturday with adding grain and also some vignetting. The whole learning new things aspect of it is exciting.

Thank you! What happens in the digital darkroom doesn't always stay in the digital darkroom though. I try to disclose when I'm modifying a photo a lot but you never know where it goes once it gets out in the internet. It sure is fun though to manipulate photos and change them around.
