Eros is made from Dark Matter - by @mariandavp

I often ask myself; what motivates us in life?

Is it a chemical thing? A mix of hormones? DNA? m-RNA? Is it the past that creates our perception of what the future should be? And how come every time we fall in love, we are so ready to change our perception of happiness and adjust it to the potential of a joint future with someone we practically just met?

Is the fear of loneliness so much greater than our personal aspirations , that at least once or twice in life we become so willing to let them go entirely for nothing more than a vague promise of togetherness? Of course, I am not talking about random encounters based on attraction, sexual instinct or mere need. This kind of love is easier to explain and understand and usually fades away before you even get the chance to sabotage your journey to your personal paradise.

Neither do I talk about those long term relationships that end up in marriages, because it is the logical thing to do in a society that expects you to be with that someone you have gotten used to.

I am thinking about those rare and absurd attachments we create with people that we don't really know, but feel like we know forever. About relationships that develop out of nowhere, they don't follow the logical path of compatibility but in a strange way, they seem to explain everything that has happened in the past and reveal of what should happen in the future. And, unexpectedly, this feeling of clarity and enthusiasm is mutual...Irrespective of how such relationships end, if they end, they definitely alter your decisions dynamically, they create bias and whole new set of priorities.

Eros, as this kind of love was defined in ancient Greek philosophy, manages to connect an otherwise mortal instinct of attraction to the notion of eternal co-existence. During these rare moments in life, when our human existence becomes meaningless without the other, soul becomes ever present, as a true living and autonomous species seeking its companion throughout immortality. Illusion, madness or dark matter making its way up to the conscious mind?

In the end, it may be this sense of emptiness that we are trying so desperately to fill that motivates us to feel what we feel, the same way it makes us put one leg in front of the other and come closer to the other.

I will agree with you, the magical moment you fall in love feels like the end of a road. A road full of weird twists and turns that without realising led you to this moment. It is an unforgetable feeling for those lucky enough and one of the most important parts of the human experience:)

Great artwork, i really love the use of negative space and the philosophy behind:)I think it would be the perfect gift for two new lovers:)

The artwork is really simple I guess, but I am glad you say you like it and also that you get the use of the negative space. Truth be told I haven't really made up my mind if those who happen to experience this feeling are lucky or doomed 😂

Maybe they are luckily doomed,lol

MVP in philosophical mood...
Those rare attachments you are writing about, they DO exist.

They do exist, but I still wonder if they are for better or for worse or entirely random :)

Those that you describe and as you describe them are for better for sure... Experiences with unique people, or of unique character.
