Last month i posted my hair ( the picture above) on a Natural hair group chat on Facebook. It has a tag "Its my hair, not a wig! " and to my surprise 40% of people that commented actually thought my hair was a wig. They thought i was lying. It really amazed me because its actually a complement in disguise.
Few days ago I washed it and decided to snap it and I was quite impressed. Not that it was that long (because i started 3 years ago) or voluminous but its healthy.
CHARACTERISTICS OF AN HEALTHY HAIR
- My scalp is free of dandruff.
- The hair has minimal breakage and shedding.
- The hair is shining (more reasons why they thought its a wig).
- The hair is soft to touch.
- It has volume.
- The hair doesn't tangle much.
- It also retains moisture.
People normally think keeping a natural hair is expensive but I disagree. You can keep an healthy natural hair without doing more than you can spend.
MY HAIR ROUTINE
I was twice a month with Vo5 shampoo and Vo5 conditioner. They are very much affordable.
I spray my hair daily with water mixed with oil.
I don't plait tight braids because genetically i have thin edges. I avoid hair styles that are too tight.
I don't expose my hair for long because of the harsh weather here. Maximum is 2-3 days before i put it in a protective hairstyle.
I comb only when its moist, i never comb it dry. That will cause massive breakage.
I apply a leave in conditioner to softens it. (Cantu leave in conditioner)
One thing about keeping an healthy natural hair is, you cant be lazy with it. You must be ready to take care of it.
I hope we have gain few things from this post. 😍😍😍 Thanks for visiting my blog.
