I was going to thank you for being a bastion of sanity, but then I realized I didn't really know what "bastion" meant so I looked it up. Apparently, it is one of those skinny windows built to allow a gun to be shot from several directions from within. I now declare there to be no such thing as a bastion of sanity. I do think the world is a better place when people paint their cars and do double-sandwich dances and print on marshmallows. Thanks for reminding me to loosen up. :)

ha ha! I was at the height of my creativity when the recession hit, and my job dissolved. I lived off my 401k until it ran out and I did artistic stuff every day, until I ran out of money............

A "bastion of sanity" could be seeing a situation from all of its various perspectives. Meaning you're focused, open-to-ideas and able to discuss a topic from multiple viewpoints. You might very well "be insane" but you'll appear engaged, well-versed and intelligent, which may grant you access to respect and sane opportunities.
