The gulf between being open-minded and being credulous.

Credulity is actually the opposite of skepticism, believe it or not. A lot of people seem to be equating openness to other perspective (crucial to a skeptical outlook) with a willingness to believe or grant legitimacy to any proposition someone tries to sway you towards.

I legit don't think Rogan is all that malicious a person, but his inability or unwillingness to forcefully challenge his whackadoodle guests does not make him a paragon of open inquiry. It makes him a stooge. In challenging pseudoscience, misinformation, and propaganda one need not cede all legitimate ground to expert opinion and scientific consensus.

A skeptic might never come to fully accept received wisdom, but she can still interrogate alternative theories and find them to be even more lacking.

Rogan does not have the ability to do this because he has clearly never developed any formal critical thinking skills. It isn't enough to go "Interesting" or "I don't know about that I heard something different". It's a goddamn absurd idea that a self admitted simpleton with less than no intellectual credentials would be the perfect host for a show dedicated to discussing critically discussing controversial topics of the day.

Joe Rogans brain is liquid. It conforms to whatever container you dump it into, and more intelligent people than him with more fleshed out and dangerous ideologies can and do take great advantage of that
