Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistan national cricket team across all formats, has climbed three positions in the ICC Men's Test Batting Rankings, securing the third spot. This achievement makes him the only batsman in the world to rank in the top three across all three formats of the game (Test, ODI, and T20).
Regarded as one of the finest players in cricket today, Babar Azam currently holds the top position in the ODI batting rankings and the third position in the T20 batting rankings. In the latest MRF ICC Men's Test Batting Rankings, he rose from sixth place to third with a total of 862 points. Kane Williamson, the captain of the New Zealand cricket team, occupies the first spot with 883 points, while an Australian batsman holds the second position with 874 points.
The ICC noted on its website that Babar Azam's ascent in the batting rankings has caused a reshuffle at the top, with Steve Smith of Australia, Marnus Labuschagne (also Australian), and England's Joe Root all dropping one spot. This intensifies the competition for the top position in the rankings.
With the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, Babar Azam has the opportunity to surpass the current leader if he performs exceptionally well.
