He was the man in charge when Rajasthan Royals won the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League in 2008 and looks like Shane Warne is going to return to the league as it heads to season 11 this year. The former Australia leg-spinner who is a coveted commentator now has revealed that he will return to the cash-rich league, having last played in the tournament in 2011.
Taking to Twitter, Warne has written: “Looking forward to making an announcement to you guys this week which I’m very excited about & yes it involves the IPL2018 !”
Several IPL franchises took to social media to welcome Rajasthan Royals, which is returning to the cash-rich cricket tournament after serving a two-year ban.
"VANAKKAM. The energy in Chennai and the @ChennaiIPL are simply a treat. Look forward to great games again in 2018!," the winners of the inaugural edition tweeted
"Khamma Ghani Rajasthan! To Royal Roars!," CSK tweeted in return. Other IPL teams including Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) also welcomed Rajasthan's return.
"Our fans have shown tremendous excitement about our return and we couldn't be happier. We hold them in utmost regard and are so glad to see their enthusiasm," Manoj Badale, who has been the lead owner of the Rajasthan franchise since its inception, said in a statement.
Earlier, a panel appointed by the Supreme Court had suspended Rajasthan and Chennai for two years over a corruption and spot fixing scandal.
