I just decided to cut the summary after the second ODI, because it would be easier to read if i made 1 report on 1 game, instead of having 1 report with 2 matches. So here is the second part of the ODI series summary.
So the third ODI has also been a walkover for India. Eventhough Sri Lanka went off to a flying start with Upul Tharanga taking the game on and played some attacking shots and got Sri Lanka going in a very good rate. Sri Lanka lost a wicket of Gunathilaka and then Samarawickrama and Tharanga got a great partnership going, building up the platform for some power hitting for Sri Lanka, but the new spin twins had other ideas. Samarawickrama got out and then the tables turned to India, as the spinners kept on getting more wickets and Sri Lanka lost their way. Upul Tharanga was a bit unfortunate because of Dhoni once again pulling of a lightning quick stumping. It was one of those stumpings Dhoni has done in so many occasions. Time and time again when India needed the most, Dhoni comes out and pulls of something extraordinary and gets India back in the game. Sri Lanka went from 136/2 to 215 all out after 45.5 overs, which is really bad. They had the platform they needed, but even with the platform, it was to no use as the rest of the Sri Lankan batting only contributed with 79 runs. Credit should not be taken away from the Indian bowling though. They bowled well and got through the Sri Lankan batting after the great start Upul Tharanga gave.
Moving on to the Indian batting, which is quite a simple note. They were at the top after loosing Rohit Sharma early. Shreyas Iyer and Shikhar Dhawan just took the game out of Sri Lankas hands by putting up a 135 run partnership, and then Shreyas got out, but Dinesh Karthik took his chance and alongside Dhawan, got India home with an 8 wicket victory. Dhawan completing his 12th ODI century, which could make sure that he has some form to build with for the T20I which will start from tomorrow.
To sum the series up, India were looking like a slump in the first ODI, but they never gave up and showed once again that they deserve to be number 1 in the ODI rankings. Sri Lanka have to work hard with all the aspects of the game. They had a few moments where they looked like they could test the Indians, but the third ODI showed that Sri Lanka still have a lot to work on.
Moving on to the T20I, i do not have any real interest in the T20I, but i hope India win, so i do not need to listen to some critics about India loosing against a poor side, Pakistan won against them and India did not and so on. I want to clear out my opinion about that T20 cricket is primarily for entertainment. It was made because people got bored of test cricket and ODI cricket, well guess what. I think the opposite. Test cricket for batting is how long you can stay at the crease. How long can you defend every single ball. It is not like throwing your bat at it and see how it will go (eventhough Sehwag was the most destructive batsman in test cricket). What i mean about it is that i think test cricket has something special in it. It can't just be one side dominating the proces after 1 inning. There can always be a twist, no matter how bad the side is (Pakistan vs Sri Lanka first test 2017). With that note, i will end my ODI series summary for today. See you readers soon. Bye for now.
Hope to hear more and more cricket updates from you.
