Sachin Tendulkar is a former Indian cricketer widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. He took up cricket at the age of eleven, made his Test debut against Pakistan at the age of sixteen, and went on to represent India for more than two decades. During his career, he scored 15,921 runs in Test matches and 18,426 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs), making him the highest run-scorer of all time in international cricket. He also holds the record for most centuries (100 or more runs) scored in both Tests and ODIs.

Tendulkar was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor, in 2014. He was also named one of Wisden's five Cricketers of the Year in 1997 and Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World for 1997 and 2010. In 2002, he was nominated to the Rajya Sabha, India's upper house of Parliament. In 2012, he was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
