Braeburn's Cricket World Cup Diary, Day Five.

No post yesterday due to a particularly long day of boozing on Saturday. I did place a bet on Hashim Amla to be top scorer for the South Africans against Bangladesh but he failed to make the starting eleven and so the money came back to me. How differently might things have turned out for the Proteas with Amla in the side we will never know but with India up next things are looking very grim for Faf du Plessis' side.

Bairstow and Roy can power England to victory against Pakistan today.

Today England take on Pakistan at Trent Bridge in Nottingham and I fully expect the hosts to back up their opening day win against South Africa. The price on an England win is much too short for interest and so I have gone for a couple of bets on the top runscorer for Eoin Morgan's team. In one day cricket, the opener always has the best chance of getting the most runs, so I have backed both Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow today. Roy played a great knock on Thursday and has long been in brilliant form, while Bairstow went for a golden duck that morning and will be very keen to make amends. Both players also have great form in Nottingham and I would expect one of them to knock out a ton today.
