State of California Is Tackling Human Trafficking, Head-On

I hang out with a social worker once a week and talk human trafficking. This person is a font of information and I'd like to share what was revealed during our last conversation.

The state is requiring training for social workers to identify sex trafficking in foster homes, since it's waaaay too fucking prevalent.

The state has also printed and supplied posters; this one was in the window of a local grocery store.

Evidently Sacramento is a huge hub of trafficking. If I were local, I'd try to keep an eye on the airport and riverfront (goes to the delta and then out to sea)

Brought up the pizda = pizza theory, as the person has family in Eastern Europe and speaks a slavic-based language. The theory wasn't shot down.

The conversation migrated to what a hot-bed of trafficking the Eastern bloc was, and how the CIA actually uses Mormon missionaries overseas as eyes and ears. They like Mormons because the faith has super-secret rituals, and Mormons know how to keep their lips shut when it comes to super-secret stuff. Now, I don't have anything factual to base this statement upon, other than what I was told; so take it with a grain of salt.

But to me, the good news is that the state is getting proactive about protecting our most vulnerable population. And that, my friends, is a very awesome thing.
