VALENCIA, Venezuela—Venezuela's central prosecutor announced late Wednesday that 68 individuals, almost every one of them detainees, were killed by a fire that emitted inside a police headquarters, which townspeople said took after an uproar by prisoners being held there.
Lawyer General Tarek William Saab said on his official Twitter account that four prosecutors had been named to figure out what occurred at the police central command in Valencia, a town around 100 miles west of Caracas.
He said the dead included two ladies who were remaining overnight at the station, yet he didn't give any further points of interest.
Nearby specialists had affirmed before just that there were fatalities, and said they were attempting to decide a correct number. They said they were not giving any appraisals "keeping in mind the families."
