Steem to the Moon!

Steemmoon screenshot.png
Little bit lonely on the Steem Moon at the moment...

So many people talk about Steem going to the moon, but what are we going to find when we get there? Elon's Roadster? Demanding Cromulons? A thousand Bitcoin Cash forks?

SteemMoon is a creative community collaboration project designed to be accessible to every single Steemian. All you need is some time, some patience and whatever default drawing program came on your laptop or phone.

SteemMoon is all about Pixel Art. A pixel is the smallest possible dot on any screen, so pixel art has a pleasing blocky retro feel to it, reminisent of early video games. You don't need to know how to draw to create something in pixel art.

While SteemMoon is open to everyone to contribute to, there will be some guidelines to follow to ensure everyone's artwork fits together.

All buildings and structures will show two sides to give depth, and the viewpoint will be from above the structure.

The standard line will be two pixels per step. For example:

The single dot is one pixel... each step in a line is two pixels

The light source will be the top right-hand side of the screen.

This is the size and shape of a standard pixel art person on the SteemMoon. Obviously you're allowed to have taller, shorter or bigger people, but this is the general scale:

Oh, just so you know... all the images above have been made 4 times bigger than their actual size. All the contributions for SteemMoon should be in their actual proper size. For example:

Anyone really can contribute to the SteemMoon... even if you don't believe you have any artistic talent. You can draw a person using something as basic as Microsoft Paint which I think still comes standard on Windows operating systems. Increase the Zoom slider to the maximum (800% in this example) and use the Pencil tool:

Feel free to use this format for your people (although, being on the moon, maybe they'll need a spacesuit)... or maybe not, totally up to you.

This is the first pixel art on SteemMoon, but definitely won't be the last:

All submissions should have a transparent background, but if you want an example of the moonscape, here you go:

You can use this to see if your art works with this background, or to incorporate moon dust on your structure.

How to contribute to SteemMoon!

1.) Create a post to showcase your art, and please include progress shots so we can verify it's your own creation.
2.) Include the tag #steemmoon
3.) You can add a comment to this post if you like.
4.) You can tag me if you want to be sure @ninjavideo.
5.) Please make sure your pixel art has a transparent background and is either a .png or .gif file.
6.) Animations (.gif files) are absolutely allowed, but anything flashing or garish will not be included.

While it's totally open to everyone, and all pixel art is very welcome... we do reserve the right to not include art pieces that are probably not enjoyable for everyone.

If you want to use the Steem brand colours, you can find them here. If you really enjoy creating Pixel Art, there is a great tool called Pyxel Edit with a great tutorial on the blockchain.

If you have any questions, please hit me up... otherwise I'd like to thank @crimsonclad for encouraging everyone to make a thing and add to the Steem blockchain. My hope is that SteemMoon exists for years to come and becomes a chronicle of our journey on the Steem Blockchain, the cryptocurrency and blockchain communities and general pop culture, all captured in amazing pixel art.
