My First Freethinking Moment Ever

in critical •  7 years ago  (edited)

Just something I wrote back in August 2012. Feel free to comment.

I was reading the Bible (King James Version), book of Matthew, ch. 24…and I noticed that verse 5 stated that: Matthew 24:5 “For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many”

Hence, it doesn’t say they come, “claiming to be Christ”, but they come in his name. Most people would say “strength of”. No, coming in someone’s name means that the person coming is a representative of the desired person. So, clarifying it: the verse stated many will come as a representative of Jesus and saying (preaching, hollering, etc) that he is Christ and…not redeeming people but…deceive many. Just think….yes, Jesus stated plain point blank in that verse.

Three questions come to mind:

  1. They deceived many people from….what?
  2. Since Jesus was talking to his disciples, why would he have to be concern about someone claiming to be him since the disciples and others knew what he was and appeared as?
  3. If Jesus said this verse: are people today preaching that Jesus is Christ?

Hmm, therefore, there’s a problem.

Don’t get angry at me, I’m just reading the book..read it for yourself.
