Crochet off the shoulder poncho/shrug

in crochet •  8 years ago

Im trying to crochet at least a little bit every day, so here is todays work :)

This was a really nice pattern to work with found at:

http://www.twinstitches.com/2015/01/lacy-trellis-poncho-spiral-version.html

Mine is a little shorter because i felt it was maybe going to be a bit tight around the arms if it went below the elbow. I used two strands of womens institute premium acrylic dk yarn in two contrasting colours - i used pink and purple to give a flecked look, but lots of colour combos would work well. I crocheted with a 6mm hook.

I think this would probably fit a medium person, with enough room for a bit of drape - it was slightly restrictive on me as a L/XL.

The pattern is worked in the round so no sewing at the end, except a few threads to tie in which is a bonus :)

The only change i made to the pattern - i crocheted round 1 (sc in each st) first then joined with a sl st, purely so i didnt get my chain round twisted and kept it neat!

Color and pattern are very nice and no sewing is a winner. I so love to crochet, but sewing... sigh. I therefore prefer to make top down designs.
Curious to see how your cape fits. (Are you on ravelry... do you have more fotos there?)

I feel exactly the same about sewing! Ive avoided doing clothing in the past purely because the sewing together ruins it for me! I will usually try to either slst together or do a sc seam where possible and that kinda helps :) im not on ravelry sorry and i think i will need a smaller model to show off as its a bit snug on me :) hoping to get a dressmakers dummy soon to display them better!

you probably will laugh... I won a sewing machine :-D Now i must!!!! learn to sew. I will start with a skirt. I hope I kill nobody during the process ;-D

Haaa so funny @neumannsalva! Please don't kill nobody with your machine!

Awww not at all, that is really cool :) is it a new model? I got an old singer froma colleague doing a clear out and i love it! I just wish there were more hours in the day to do everything! Good luck with your skirt - bet there will be some awesome help vids on youtube to guide you :)

I have won a Pfaff smarter... I bought around Christmas a crochet book and the publishing company made a competition. Never thought I could win 😂
And yes, more hours are a very!!!!! good idea 👍🏻👍🏻

I'm with on ya on that! I usually slst my stitches together. I also want to purchase a dressmakers dummy. I crochet a lot of scarves so that would help display them much neater. I look forward to having more time to crochet clothing. I especially want to learn how to knit clothing as well as sew them. My sewing machine is collecting dust lol, I need to get with it. 😅

It's going great! Continue and you will always have more desire to continue. Crochet is a therapy of beautiful results.

Great work, @kimbolo86.

Nice crocheting @kimbolo86! I always love the colors you use. It's good that you are crocheting a little everyday. You must be stress free haaaaa! Crocheting always helps me relieve any tensions I have and helps with my stress. I am so excited to see more work today for #needleworkmonday! This is so fun! Thanks for sharing your lovely art with us! 😃😉😍

Haha i wish! I think id have to crochet through the night to get rid of all stress, but it certainly helps :) actually its really good for stopping snacking! If i get caught up in a good project i stop eating, so great for the diet! I will crochet myself skinny :D

Haaaa well now we can add another benefit to crocheting...helps with dieting. I love it!
