Hi @analp and @naka05, just wanted to share my opinion here. While doing crochet myself for very long time I was very interested when this classes started but you know yourself there are many different ways of holding needle and catching the thread and there is never right or wrong way. The important point is at least for me the result. If the result of the task is achieved and work done nicely, tidy and without different tension of thread that is very well noticeable when you look at the final result, well done job will give beautiful and aesthetic result and will reflect accuracy of a participant. That is why when I saw these classes I did not take part because I know that my way of work is different, I learnt from my grandma in my country and actually my hubby learnt in school in his country, the way how it is done in our both countries are completely different but neither of them is right or wrong.

As to the point that was highlighted by @rosselena I can only join her opinion. When there is any competition no matter what it is the family members and employees of the company should be excluded. That is often we see for example:

• when any the lottery is running, there is a note that employees of company should not take part

• by applying for a job, it is not allowed if your relative is the member of Jury board

• by any competition the organisers or family members are excluded

That is done in order to avoid such situations like in this case.

Being a family, we do not know how much help and guidence was given at home, a couple husband and wife they live together and in majority of cases will help each other, at least it is presumed by others.

I do not think that the fact of being only a male candidate should be one of the reason, what about if next time there will be a child who takes part.

It is always difficult to be organiser of any contest, we know that from our previous experience of running Art contests, it is difficult to please everyone but it is possible to avoid misunderstanding. That is why when we run Art contest, our condition between organisers was that none of the organisers and their family members were allowed to take part as participants.
