Kojek, the domestic crocodile that lives with an Indonesian family

As far back as 1997, Muhammad Iwan saw children playing with a puppy sea crocodile caught by some fishermen on the beach in Pangandaran, Indonesia. Muhammad bought the reptilian for 25000 Indonesian rupees - which are equivalent to €1.50 - and brought it home as if it were a dog or cat.

He called the Kojek crocodile; initially, when it was only 25 centimetres long, his nature was very fierce and it happened that he bite a finger but it didn't take us too long to domesticate it.

Now, in fact, 20 years later, despite its massive 200kg and 2.7 meters long, the Kojek crocodile lives quietly in the house like a simple domestic animal. The super-predator also lives with two children, the children of Mohammad, who are 2 and 10 years old, and has never hurt him.

If when he was a puppy he lived in a medium-sized aquarium, now the domestic crocodile needs a pool that acts as a pond and eats about 5kg of fish per day. But having' only' 20 years old, Kojek is still young and it is very likely that he will become even bigger!

I love crocodiles and Kojek is very close to my heart, I think he sees me as a father. It's a good pet,"said Muhammad. Do not stretch it in a particular way. I clean the water once a week and wash my skin and teeth.

Here is a video in which you see Muhammad cleaning the domestic crocodile Kojek.

The domestic crocodile Kojek has become famous and attracts visitors from all over the world who want to take a photo with him. Someone has also offered $75,000 to buy it but now the crocodile is part of the family and Muhammad repeats that it is not for sale.
