The Thief on the cross.

And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.” Luke 23:42 KJV. These are the words from one of the thieves on the cross. While everyone was mocking Jesus, this thief recognized who Jesus was. He tells the other thief don’t you even fear God. This man has done nothing wrong. He calls Jesus Lord and asks Jesus to remember him in paradise. Being sorry for his sins, he reaches out to Jesus and recognizes Him as his Lord and Jesus tells him in the next verse says, Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise. Jesus didn’t say you have to clean up your act, join a church, get baptized, take classes, he accepted the thief just as he was and when the thief recognized that he was a sinner and Jesus was Lord and believed.
