Crowd funding was always a good invention
Ever since humans gathered together to hunt, people discovered the strength of large groups.
In Columbus age, people funded voyages to distant continents. They funded the building of ships and crews. The funded the supply. And when the sailor got back with stocks, they divided the profits by each funders share. This is how the stock market began.

Crowd funding sites opened new opportunities for entrepreneurs and actually every need or idea. The problem is still with the monopoly of the banks over the money.
Today contributing to a project through a crowd funding site, has a relatively big commission which discouraging people from micro donations.
