I've been a backer of Uncanny Magazine since they first got funded on kickstarter. Having been a fan of the editors' work in the magazine they had previously edited, I knew supporting them would be an awesome idea. And, friends, it really has been! The magazine, the editors, the artists, and several of the stories have won awards, and I've gotten to read some amazing stories.

Now, they're running their Year Five kickstarter campaign, with this year's special feature being a new video channel for Space Unicorns (the magazines fans are the Space Unicorn Ranger Corps, for reasons). The show, Uncanny TV, will be:
highlighting creators in SFF working in a variety of art forms and projects, focusing on people building and nurturing their communities, particularly highlighting marginalized creators. They'll talk about topics that can be serious, but the overall tone of the show will be to celebrate the things we enjoy and the people who make our communities good places to be in SFF.
This sounds super exciting to me, and I am very much looking forward to seeing it.
In addition, they've also got stories coming from some of the finest authors writing science fiction and fantasy these days, as well as poetry and non-fiction from some terrific talents. For fiction, they've got:
- Ursula Vernon, Mary Robinette Kowal, Kelly Robson, Maurice Broaddus, Fran Wilde, Ellen Klages, Naomi Kritzer, Greg van Eekhout, John Chu, Sarah Pinsker, Rebecca Roanhorse, and Delilah S. Dawson.
For non-fiction:
- Mark Oshiro, Zoë Quinn, Alexandra Erin, Tanya DePass, Jim C. Hines, and Diana M. Pho.
And, finally, for poetry:
- Beth Cato, S. Qiouyi Lu, Brandon O’Brien, Cassandra Khaw, Nicasio Reed, Leah Bobet.
This is just a terrific list of contributors. I've got my support in, and if you like science fiction and fantasy, I hope you will too.
I fear for Perihelion Science Fiction and our esteemed editor/founder... sweet, brilliant Sam, hobbled by a stroke at 70. Too young! May the world know it isn't treason if I lend my support to other scifi zines....
