What is Crowdini?

Crowdini is a question and answer game. We ask you to answer one question a day and give you points based on how your answer compares to the majority answer.

We have incorporated Steemit in a new innovative way. Read more about Crowdini and how we have incorporated Steemit in our intro post here.

At the end of the game the top 3 in points split 90% of the prize pool and all other players who voted on every question for that game will split 10% of the prize pool.

It is designed to be something you can do in a few seconds a day but hopefully sparks conversation and thought.

Probably asks for a little help a couple of times.

I answered
Yes it makes noise

As a philosophical question it is interesting, what is sound without someone to hear it, what is the nature of sound ; but as a practical question, science tells us that yes it will make a sound.

I answered
Yes it makes noise

Of course, it makes a noise.

I answered
Yes it makes noise

I clearly not know.

I answered
Yes it makes noise

The only thing that doesn't make a noise when it falls, is a feather.

I answered
Yes it makes noise

Nothing being around to hear it does not mean a vacuum is created all of a sudden.

I answered
Yes it makes noise

yes. its called physics

I answered
Yes it makes noise

Sound is defined at pressure waves in air or another medium, even if there's nothing around to receive the sound, it's still there.

Honestly? The real answer to this is dependent upon how you define the term "noise."

According to Wikipedia: "noise is unwanted sound judged to be unpleasant, loud or disruptive to hearing." Here -- this definition of noise makes it subjective in that only a person can determine what is noise or not.

From that same article: "From a physics standpoint, noise is indistinguishable from sound, as both are vibrations through a medium, such as air or water." Here -- physics says that noise and sound are the same thing so subjectivity doesn't play a part in whether you call it "noise" or "sound."

I have a degree in physics and am extremely tempted by both definitions, because if you look at the statement. "If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it, does it make a noise?" It appears much, much more a subjective question because it talks about whether a person is there or not. For me, this requires using the subjective definition above. So, no, it doesn't.

But, of course it makes a sound, and by the physics definition, sound = noise, so, yes, it does.

Don't you love playing around with the definitions of words? :)
