I was approached to enter a writing contest by @aguayojoshua. The contest as I understood it was formally over about 4 days ago. No winner has been openly declared as of yet. Initially @aguayojoshua and @jean.racines followed me and was very enthusiastic about this contest. Since the contest has formally ended, both have unfollowed me and have ignored the contest.
EDIT: I stand corrected on the issue of @aguayojoshua and @jean.racines following me. According to the link @jean.racines provided in the comments below, they in fact never had followed me. I believed they had and I was erroneus in that thinking. I chose to leave my original wording in the paragraph above to clarify that I did say that and to give merit to @jean.racine in the comments below. I do humbly apologize.
" Furthermore, in order to foster our writing community, we’ll provide feedback to EVERY valid entry, regardless of whether it wins or not. If you’d like to opt out of this, please mention it in your entry."
The quote above does offer that the contest entries would be reviewed and feedback given. It was taken from the original contest posting. In my zeal to compete in this contest I had overlooked that fact. I have redacted anything that may imply otherwise and place the contest in a bad light. I overlooked the review/feedback portion of the contest rules and fault for that misunderstanding is my own.
For this I also humbly apologize.
Wishing you all the very best.
@olmech, we are really sorry to see you go. As you’ve requested through this post, your entry has been officially withdrawn from Cryptails #1. However, I would like to bring your attention (and the attention of your audience) to some facts:
On our last update about the contest, we clearly stated that it would take us a couple of days to announce the winners and provide feedback to all contestants. One of the cornerstones of Cryptails is to provide useful feedback and make a fair assessment of every entry, so we can’t provide results immediately. Our final decisions regarding the winners, however, will be made public on schedule.
The follows/un-follows of our personal accounts have absolutely no bearing on the way we assess the entries, nor does it affect our final decision. However, I would like to point out that we never followed you in the first place, since we don’t necessarily follow all contestants. To confirm this claim, please refer to the follower history of your account. You can do so by following this link.
Transparency and open communication are essential to us, that’s why we’ve responded to every single question made on all the posts about the contest in a direct and timely manner. If you had any concerns about the timeline of the contest, you could have voiced them in any of our threads and we would have responded immediately.
Finally, I’d like to end on a personal note:
Encouraging people to stay away from Cryptails while deliberately insulting us and implying that we’ve abandoned the contest is gratuitous and categorically false. Such attitudes are tremendously detrimental to the very writing community we should all be striving to foster.
If you believe any of the claims I made is unfair or false, please feel free to discuss it. As always, we are permanently open to dialogue.
Best of lucks,
Jean

It’s alright, @olmech ! We actually appreciate the opportunity of having this conversation. We would have preferred to do so in a less confrontational context, nonetheless, we will always approach every concern from our contestants with respect and transparency.
That said, if you would like to re-enter your story into the contest, please let us know. Rest assured, this misunderstanding will not affect our assessment of your work in any shape or form, nor your eligibility to participate in this or any of our future contests. Our doors are always open for everyone!
All best,
Jean

Hey. Sorry for the delay. We promised to give all of our contestants some feedback, so we have been working hard to make sure we give back something useful. 😀
We'll announce the winners next week.

There were only 6-8 entries of 1500 words. Wouldnt think it would be that hard but good luck.
