China is already moving to bitUSD and bitCNY on the Bitshares blockchain (one of the oldest, fastest and most secure chains with more daily transactions than Bitcoin) cause they are backed by 200% collateral and can't be hacked. Transfers also take 3s and the wallet is the largest decentralized exchange in the world. https://bitshares.org/

$31million of hope turned into despair. People thought that they will reap good rewards instead someone came in and broke the vault. We need to ensure a super secure platform when it comes to money and our personal things.

Hackers are the new pirates of the high seas.

How shocking. Like no one saw this coming.

Investors lost almost 400,.000$ in the confido scam. That was also not predicted, more info about all facts you can find here: https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@royaldutch/confido-cfd-is-a-scam-let-s-analyse-what-is-happening-right-now-updated

Sad. Hopefully they figure out a solution.

Hahhh. "Attacker" Sureeee... I have to strongly agree there was some shady inside work in play. It's a coverup to balance their books.

OMG that's a shocking news

pray that all of us are protected..

Two alternatives to tether=
Bitusd
or steemdollar.

and they said in the announcement "we will not redeem any of the stolen tokens"

Let's think about whole tether for a moment. Do you think that if tether will collapse it would bring the whole crypto market down?

I think that it might not be 100% - because now when people are running away from crypto they convert into tether. In such a case it would rather stop sell off (until new pegged coin will gain popularity) because many people do not want to go into fiat.

Hello & Cheers!! I'm a content detection and information bot. You are receiving this reply because a short link or links have been detected in your post/comment. The purpose of this message is to inform your readers and yourself about the use of and dangers of short links.

To the readers of the post: Short links are provided by url shortening services. The short links they provide can be useful in some cases. Generally their use is benign. But as with all useful tools there are dangers. Short links can be used to hide all sorts of things. Quite frequently they are used to hide referral links for instance. While not dangerous this can be deceptive. They can also be used to hide dangerous links such as links to phishing sites, sites loaded with malware, scam sites, etc. You should always be extremely cautious before clicking on one. If you don't know and trust the poster don't click. Even if you do you should still be cautious and wary of any site you are sent to. It's always better to visit the site directly and not through a short link.

To the author of the post: While short links may be useful on some sites they are not needed on steemit. You can use markdown to format your links such as this link to steemit. It's as simple as [steemit](https://steemit.com) Unlike short links this allows the reader to see where they are going by simply hovering over the link before they click on it.

They said the attacker who stole it will not be able to redeem it.
They are trying to recover it

another DAO scenario, probably a fork

USDT Thether is centralized, unlike Bitcoin which is decentralized.

That is why Bitfinex can simply prevent the hacker from moving the Thether from his/her address.

Upvote for support of a decentralized crypto :)

Well appreciated sir. keep it coming as i personally do not trust their explanation/excuse at Tether. I smell a rat, a very big one.

Have they managed to solve this critical problem? :O

tether i don't know about this what is tether

I can't explain the technical details, but a lot of exchanges use tether as a stand-in for the dollar, and such. It's a digital currency.

Malicious actions have been made, and $ 30m of USDT would have been "stolen" by an attacker storing these dollars on the address « 16tg2RJuEPtZooy18Wxn2me2RhUdC94N7r »

woe.... ridiculous

we were warned

It's really bad news and all the hackers must be punished. Well I know that government doesn't support the blockchain but at the same time . Because of this money belongs to the investors and all these money ultimately cut out from the pocket of investor. And this also shows that there is a lot of work have to do for protecting the wallets and exchange from the hackers. The data you had shown really amazed anyone but actually it's a big concern, developer have to work on it provide a strong security system.

So sad, and it looked so promising, who would have thought...

The news is vary shocking.

It's very bad. Lots of people will lost their money :( Try to keep your cyrpto moneey in your paper wallets!

It not the people fault it a hacker hacking the omni layer and minting their own coins.

Insane how 30 million can go missing just like that in the crypto world

Great crypot news...sir
