New Open Source Sgminer Fork With Ethereum (ETH) Support

Sgminer-gm is a new AMD GPU miner with support for the Ethash mining algorithm used by Ethereum (ETH) and a couple of other crypto currencies. The new miner has been developed by Genesis Mining (a cloud mining company) in cooperation with Wolf0 (a popular crypto miner developer). It is an open source project that allows you to mine Ethereum with the familiar sgminer interface and functionality using an OpenCL kernel (supports only AMD GPUs). There are also pre-compiled binaries available for Windows (32 and 64-bit) as well as for Linux (Ubuntu 64-bit), so you can download the miner and give it a try without having to compile from the source yourself.

The main features of the new sgminer-gm fork:

Supports both Getwork and Stratum Ethash mining
The DAG file generation happens directly on the GPU
You get Temperature, Frequency and Fan Control of AMD GPUs
There is full API support for monitoring of your mining rigs

The miner comes with preconfigured config file ready for mining Ethereum, so the only thing you need to do is edit the sgminer.conf and add mining pool and wallet/worker and you will be ready to start mining.

In terms of hashrate you should be seeing pretty much the same or a bit better than what other Ethereum miners are offering you, so there should be no notable performance difference though you are welcome to experiment with settings and see if you will manage to squeeze something a bit more. Also feel free to leave a comment below with the GPU(s) and hashrate you are getting with this miner, currently a Radeon 280X does seem to provide a bit more than 16 MHs when mining Ethereum at stock setting (non-overclocked), though your results may vary.

Thanks! I'm going to go try it out! Love having the DAG generation directly on the GPU.

Edit: Just FYI does not seem to work with dwarfpool and geteth.io ethermine.org added port 14444 since I last tried mining there so it is humming along.

Only tried on ethermine myself and it was working fine, thanks for reporting I'll forward your comment to the developers :)

I switched back to Claymore Dual Miner. Still get about 10% more out of it paying the dev fee. When I have time I'll delve into the sgminer settings to see if I can tweak it or figure out why. If you have the link to any sites with settings, I'd appreciate it.

Running 2 r7 370's & 1 r9 380. Effective hash rate after 30 hours: claymore 49 MH/s, Sgminer 45 MH/s. GPU Clock 1100 Mhz, Memory Clock 1650 Mhz, Temp 68-70.
