Should Agoras Token become an ERC20 Token until the release of the alpha?

in crypto-news •  7 years ago

It appears now that AGRS has been removed from Coinmarketcap. The problem with this is there is no guarantee it will be placed back on Coinmarketcap when the alpha is finally released. The main issue being that Omni tokens simply do not have the same political clout that Ethereum tokens have (there are also technical reasons for this). MaidSafe (SAFE Network) and others have suffered a similar fate to Agoras on certani exchanges. The point being that there is something which can be done about this but is it worth it to do something about it?

ERC20 Token Standard, is it right for Agoras?

I know this question has been asked somewhere but it has not been formally discussed in my opinion. What are the pros and cons of making AGRS into ERC20 Token as a means of getting it on exchanges? ERC20 Tokens are easy to trade on exchanges and unlike Bitcoin trades it is technically fast (easier to deal with). So there are good reasons why ERC20 Token are popular with exchanges, it's because they are easier and faster.

At the same time I look at the TML code on Github and I keep seeing significant progress. The alpha looks closer than most people think at this point but even if an AGRS token is implemented immediately as one of the first moves it is unclear how this will be decentralized without there being a blockchain written in TML. So the alpha could end up being released for months before we get a token which is okay from a certain perspective but then the people who want to buy will not be able to which will ultimately limit growth of the alpha. Think of it as a situation where if Steem were not on any exchanges how would Steem have a price?

The good news from analysis of Github

  • Ohad has implemented an early parser which appears to work.
  • Ohad has implemented tuples, and context free grammar.
  • Partial fixed point logic is implemented and appears to work.
  • Forward chaining is on the to-do list for implementation.

In my opinion TML looks more promising than ever from the code base. Every few days we see progression and new code being tried out. This in my opinion is very good news because it brings us step by step closer to the alpha. When the alpha is complete then we will all be able to assist collaboratively in creating the specification for what will be Tauchain. For that reason, I will hold onto my AGRS for dear life.

Please... It would be so easy and provide instant access to decentralized exchanges. Omni wallet is a pain with no hardware support.

The logistical problems with a swap would of course be the downside.

Most people don't use decentralized exchanges. There isn't a lot of volume on for example Bitshares.

I think that will change when governments go after normal exchanges

Why would government "go after" normal exchanges?

Wow, I had no idea AGRS and Maidsafe had been removed. I just assumed the volume dropped and I only scroll down to BTS on coinmarketcap.
Thanks for mentioning this.

Yes removed but I will hold AGRS anyway. I intend to use it on the platform and support science.

Any news about Agoras Token???? I don´t know what i do with my tokens
