Like Bitcoins POW (Proof of Work),
the Burst Blockchain need hashes to secure the Burst blockchain through a similar process called POC (Proof of Capacity).

The hashes are written and saved into a .plot file on a hard drive,
more hashes written / saved the more space it takes up on the hard drive.
(you can use any storage media not just hard drives)

To mine Burst a miner reads the .plot files when the Burst blockchain.

This method the intensive work of creating hashes is done before hand in writing the plot files and only needs to be read off the hard drive to mine. This allows for huge energy saving with Burstcoin POC vs Bitcoin POW.

To conclude Burst / Burstcoin has gone through many seasons, but still has an active community supporting it.

Even through the initial disputes with BHD (Bitcoin Hard Drive) bridges seems to be forming.
Bitcoin Hard Drive also uses POC software technology, they have used Burst core technology and created their own closed wallet to run on top of it, there are also some other differences like a 1 minute longer block time.
