Why new forks show the awesome value of ZClassic?
These days, a lot has happened around ZClassic. We saw there has been a lot of confusion around it, so we’ll try to explain it. Let's take a look back to understand the background of the story.
March 7th— The Bitcoin Private (BTCP) team [announced they would stop supporting ZClassic]{https://medium.com/@ZclassicCoin/the-future-of-zclassic-c2b3206c1233), but they also said that a new team could take the coin in September if there is a solid proposal before June.
April 1st — ZClassicBlue is announced as a new team that will support the coin. We launched new nodes, fixed the blockexplorer and the wallet, and started new mining pools.
April 22-24th — ZClassic’s price skyrocketed from $7 to $25. The possible explanations read on forums where either 1) there are new teams working on ZCL and 2) there were rumors of a new fork.
ZCL kept going up, reaching $40 April 27th, and then down quickly to $20–25.
Rumors of a fork got confirmed and yesterday, April 28th, there was an official announcement:
April 27th we knew Rhett Creighton, founder of either ZClassic and BTCP, was out of the BTCP team. Apparently, he was not working at the team, and when he tweeted about a new fork he was working on, Bitcoin Prime, the BTCP team got very upset and he was kicked out.
As we’ve lived a huge increase in ZCL price (yay!) and we heard about two forks, we saw a lot of confusion around all these facts.
Regarding Rhett and BTCP team, Rhett is out and the team will continue without him. There is great talent and a great community, so we don’t expect big changes. BTCP lost its founder, but the market didn’t take it wrong as its price hasn’t fallen much.
2 forks? What a mess! Yes, indeed. Bad timing, but in fact both have almost nothing to do between them.
Fork 1: Anonymous Bitcoin. Led buy Jake Greenbaum "The Crypto King", it went live today, April 29 (see official website ). It’s a fork-merge of ZClassic and bitcoin. So, it’s competing directly with Bitcoin Private.
Fork 2: Rhett Creighton is involved in a fork-merge with primecoin and bitcoin: Bitcoin Prime. So, nothing to do with ZClassic, besides the fact that Rhett is the creator of ZClassic.
At ZClassicBlue we wanted to explain last days’ facts and also give our views about them.
BTCP and Rhett. We are ZCL hodlers and believers, but we still hodl the BTCPs we got at the fork, so we want BTCP to succeed. Rhett being out of the team is not a good sign, but something we don’t know about happened among the team, and sometimes parting ways is for the best. BTCP has a great talent and a great community, so it will be ok. We wish the best for BTCP and Rhett, and also for Rhett’s new fork.
Anonymous Bitcoin (BTCA). A new coin based on the awesome ZCL proves ZClassic itself is great and it has a technology and features so interesting that others want to take it and improve it. Anonymous Bitcoin will be competing with ZCL, and it will be a direct competitor of BTCP. Should we oppose to it? We don’t think so. BTCP is going through its own way and we have also great plans for ZCL. Someone wants to create a new coin based on our fantastic ZClassic? Welcome and best of luck!
At ZClassicBlue nothing has changed. We have a clear goal: we want ZClassic to become a top privacy coin, and one of the top 25 coins. We have a very ambitious roadmap and a great team, and we are here for the long term. More competition? There are 1,500+ cryptocurrencies. We are ready to make zclassic one of the best of them. Let’s make it happen together!
