Everything You Need to Know About Renewable Energy

The Pure Oxygen project is a renewable energy project that intends to use green energy to reduce air pollution and make pure, clean electricity available to everyone in the world. In this article, we will talk about renewable energy and the different sources you can get it from.

What is renewable energy?

Also called green energy or natural energy, this refers to energy sourced from natural things like the sun and water that get replenished automatically and preferably at a higher rate than they can be consumed for the production of electricity.

For instance, Solar Energy is a type of renewable energy that is produced using the heat of the sun. It is called renewable because the sun’s energy is practically unlimited. You may have heard of solar panels. They are the equipment that converts the sun’s heat into electricity.

Renewable energies are pure, clean and safe for the environment because their production doesn’t usually release a lot of greenhouse gases or similar things that are bad for our ecosystem.

Here are the most common sources of renewable energy

The top methods of renewable energy production include solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, hydro energy, ocean energy, and bioenergy.

Solar Energy

Solar energy is the energy produced from the sun’s heat. This is by far the most practical and nearly unlimited source of renewable energy known to humans.

Why is it renewable? Because the rate at which we receive solar energy (from the sun) is about 10,000 more than the rate we consume it. Basically, we can produce about 10,000 times more solar energy than the current levels and it will still not be enough to consume it all.

Wind Energy

Wind energy is the energy produced from moving air by using specialised machines called wind turbines. The amount of energy that can be produced through this method depends on the location (the flow of winds), the height of turbines and the length of rotor diameters.

Geothermal Energy

Geothermal is the energy produced from the earth’s heat. As you may, the core of our earth is quite hot (about 5,200° Celsius). The excess heat is extracted through wells and other sources using geothermal reservoirs.

Hydro Energy

As the name suggests, this type of renewable energy is procured from the energy and speed of water flowing from higher to lower elevations, such as water dams and springs. It can be produced both from natural sources of water such as rivers and man-made reservoirs built at a height to create a sufficient flow of water to harness energy.

Ocean Energy

The energy produced from oceanic activities and elements such as waves or currents is called ocean energy. This type of renewable energy source is still largely under development and is yet to be used for any considerable energy production.

Bioenergy

Bioenergy is the energy produced by burning biomass, which refers to a variety of organic materials, including dung, wood, charcoal and other human and animal waste. This is used for producing heat and electricity to be used generally for cooking and other domestic purposes.
